Moving to Brighton

Moving to BrightonMoving to a new town is a stressful process to go through. Changing your job and home might be a difficult moment for the entire family. After all, moving takes you away from friends and relatives.

However, if you get familiar with the new place you are moving to, your moving experience might not be as scaring as expected.

If you are about to move to Brighton, you might be interested to know a little more about this lovely seaside town.

The town of Brighton is situated on the south coast of Great Britain within the historic county of Sussex. Poet Horace Smith even called it “The Queen of Watering Places”, which is still widely used.  “London-by-Sea” is a well-known nickname too.

Brighton’s temperate climate is characterized by mild, calm weather with high levels of sunshine, sea breezes and a healthy, bracing air.

The seafront has bars, restaurants, nightclubs, sports facilities and amusement arcades, principally between the piers.

There are a lot of green spaces in the city, a wealth of museums and places to visit –one of which is the exotic palace The Royal Pavilion.

Parking is a nightmare and Brighton is easy to explore on foot. If you need to go farther afield, the buses are regular and taxis are reasonably priced. There are also cycle lanes.

Brighton is a popular destination for conferences, exhibitions and trade fairs, and has had a purpose-built conference centre—the Brighton Centre.

The largest private sector employer in Brighton is American Express. Other major employers include Lloyds Bank, Asda, Brighton & Hove Bus and Coach Company and call-centre operator Inkfish. Besides, many Gatwick Airport’s workers live in the city of Brighton.

After the arrival of the railway in 1841 Brighton experienced rapid population growth. Being less than an hour from London by train has made the city a preferred destination for Londoners. About 40 per cent of house-hunters are from London. Nowadays the town numbers over 273 400 inhabitants.

Some nice areas to live: Seven Dials, Fiveways, Preston Park, Withdean, Tongdean, Ovingdean, Hove.
